Founder


Dr. Frans van Gool is Doctor in Veterinary Medicine, a Registered Specialist in Herd Health Management, and obtained a Certificate in Human and Animal Tropical Medicine at the Tropical Institute of Antwerp, Belgium and has a degree in exotic animal medicine.


Dr Frans van Gool is working already more than 25 years in Africa.

After having worked for more than nine years as a general veterinary practitioner in production animals in the Netherlands and two years as head of Technical Services for DENKAVIT International, a leader in Feedstuffs for animals, he joined Merial, one of the world leading companies in Animal health. In Merial he had responsibilities in Clinical development of veterinary pharmaceuticals and vaccines, in product lifecycle management, in marketing, in business and business development. His main work territories during his stay in Merial were whole Africa including Sub-Saharan Africa, South America and Asia.


Since several years he is coordinator for IFAH (International Federation for Animal Health) for the joint FAO/IFAH project on cooperation in the establishment of Standards and Protocols for the Quality Control of trypanocidal drugs and in the near future for all veterinary pharmaceuticals market in Sub-Saharan Africa.


He is also already many years participating in the Programme Committee of PAAT (The Programme Against African Trypanosomiasis). PAAT is an international alliance compromising FAO, WHO, AU-IBAR and IAEA, the main objectives of PAAT are to support action at country level to advise and to assist in the coordination of research, intervention and control activities of Trypanosomiasis.


He is active member of the OIE ad hoc group on Non Tsetse Transmitted Trypanosomiasis and of the Global Access Advisory Committee of GALVmed (Global Alliance for Livestock Veterinary Medicines).
